WHY AM I GAINING WEIGHT?

I’ve been asked this question so many times by people who feel like they’re doing all the right things yet still gaining weight. Here are a few things that could be going on.
STRESS AND INADEQUATE SLEEP
Both have a direct impact on hormone levels (cortizol) that negatively effect weight. Stress and lack of sleep are also associated with increased cravings of high calorie and sugary foods.
MEDICAL CONDITIONS can adversely effect hormones.
MEDICATIONS may have a side effect of weight gain.
CALORIE DENSITY
It’s not only portion size that matters, the type of food is also important. Foods high in sugar, fat, and calories also contribute to weight gain.
HIDDEN CALORIES
The devil is in the details!
Condiments, sauces, snacks, and beverages may pack more calories than you realize. These extra calories add up and result in the scale creeping up.
SEDENTARY LIFE STYLE
Exercise plays a big role in weight loss. When people don’t move much it’s very likely that calories consumed are not being burned off and instead packing on extra pounds.
If you feel you are experiencing unexplained weight gain I recommend seeing a holistic health care professional to identify any underlying issues. You may also benefit from seeking guidance from a nutrition expert and or a Personal trainer to customize a plan to get you on track.
